The Arizona Department of Transportation conducted a dedication ceremony last Friday morning. Although the road is not expected to be open until the middle of October, the ceremony gave those present a preview of an incredibly scenic and realigned State Route 188. The sweeping vistas as you come down the hill into Roosevelt are nothing short of "oohs and aahhs."
As I was leaving, I overheard one official make the comment, "Napolitano was a no show." I guess Gila County doesn't have a large enough constituency to warrant an appearance by the governor to this "momentous occasion."
On a more pleasant note, we want to take this opportunity to wish Bud Johnson (Brenda's other half) a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Bud turns 68 this week (and he's just as "ornery as ever").
Until next issue . . . take care.
