A Challenge to Suppport Our Troops

We recently ran an article on the website on the Marines in Battle Care Package program. It occurred to me that not everyone, for whatever reason, reads the articles we post on the site. It was for this reason we decided to include information on this wonderful program on the front page of this issue. If you have questions, please don't hesitate to call one of the three coordinators of the program. I was informed via my last correspondence with them that there are still 285 Marine's on the list without sponsors. You don't have to spend big bucks. As Mr. Hatchell put it, "one small care package can make all the difference to a Marine in battle." Here's the challenge: Let's see how many of those 285 Marines we can find sponsors for before the end of this month? I know you're up to it! These guys (and women) put their lives on the line each and every day for you and I. Can't we find it in our hearts to give just a little something back to them? Baseball season is winding down. Our beloved Red Socks lost out early in the playoffs, however, on a happier note, so did those dreaded Yankees (sorry Dave, I know you're a fan). I had hoped the Angels would make it to the World Series. Angels owner, Arte Moreno, the entire organization, including the fans, are indeed, a class act. We were fortunate enough to spend some time in Anaheim in August while the Angels hosted the Socks. Angels fans were incredibly polite and hospitable. We thoroughly enjoyed all four games and the time we spent at the Homeplate Club with John Grbavac. John's friendliness and professionalism are indeed a compliment to a great organization. On that note, until next issue . . . take care.
