Welcome to a brand new year! 2006 has arrived along with the start of the ninth year for this publication. Beginning in February, Tonto Basin News will have new offices located at 550 Willow (Willow & Hackney) in Globe.
I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas and a fabulous New Year. It's hard to believe another year is gone, but new beginnings are a good thing!
Speaking of new beginnings, Roosevelt again has three places to eat. In addition to Ma's Kitchen and Roosevelt Lake Resort, Boston's Lake House Grill (see ad in this issue for hours and phone number) opened on January 1 with a new look, revised menu (folks are raving about the pulled pork sandwich and the machaca burro) and casual atmosphere. Stop in and check it out!
As one of the feature article's indicate, the flu is invading many areas throughout Arizona. I had a touch of it myself for about four days. From what I've been hearing, I was pretty lucky. Those I've spoken to about this strain describe it as a pretty nasty one. Please be sure to take extra precautions and keep a close watch on elderly family members and friends.
The Tonto Basin News website had a huge surge in the number of visitors over the last week. A number of people over this past holiday season took the week off between Christmas and New Year's Day. I'm not sure if there was a correlation between the two, or if the site finally hit Google and a few other search engines. Whatever the reason, we're absolutely delighted and will do our best to keep current information on the site. Feedback is, as always, very much appreciated, so keep sending your comments. Until next issue . . . take care.
