Universal Pictures and the Arizona Department of Commerce are putting the call out for movie extras to appear in "The Kingdom" now being filmed in the East Valley. This feature film is being filmed June-August. "The Kingdom" stars Jamie Foxx as the leader of an elite team of counter terrorism investigators who work in a previously off limits desert kingdom trying to find those responsible for a deadly bombing attack on American workers in the Middle East. "Being the first major studio feature to film in the state . . . is very exciting to us," says executive producer Steve Saeta. "We are looking forward to working with the greater Phoenix community in creating an authentic middle-eastern look in the southwestern United States." Extras Casting Director Maryellen Aviano is currently casting men with Middle Eastern features both young and old. She is looking for dark complexioned men including those of Middle Eastern, Hispanic and Asian descent. "We would like to cast local valley residents for this feature film," says Maryellen Aviano. "We need people all summer-long for these paid non-speaking extra positions." Aviano says the script is the perfect opportunity for brothers, fathers, sons, and grandfathers to share this experience by being cast together. "It's a chance to share the once in a lifetime experience of film making," Aviano says. Peter Berg is directing and Michael Mann is producing. Film Synopsis "The Kingdom" centers on Jamie Foxx's character, who is leading an elite team of counter-terrorism investigators who work in a previously off-limits desert kingdom trying to find those responsible for a deadly bombing attack on American workers in the Middle East. Talent Needed Casting Males ages 15 to 100 with Middle Eastern features: Arab, Mediterranean, Turkish, Armenian, Persian, Pakistani, East Indian, etc. We are also casting Hispanic males ages 18 to 100. We will utilize over 3400 people over the duration of this film. Please tell your friends and family as well that fit the above requirements. We will be accepting applications throughout the summer for this production. Movie Roles Please Note: Our casting needs continually change so please check back frequently for additional movie roles. Background Talent (Movie Extras) - We are casting background extra roles. Talent will play various townspeople, soldiers, guards, etc. These roles are extremely important to the success of this film! Although you are not technically the stars, these roles will be heavily featured throughout the movie. Job Details Due to the summer heat, shooting will begin in the early morning and end by mid afternoon. Talent will be on set approximately 8 to 10 hours each day with possibility of longer. Cooling tents and meals are provided. Although shooting will take place Monday through Friday, you can work multiple days on set if you have the availability, or you can choose to only work a couple of days. We will try to work around talent schedules. For filming continuity, some of the movie extra roles require that the talent commit to multiple days. The more you can work the better. Pay/Compensation Background extras - $75.00 per day up to ten hours and then time and a half over ten hours. Speaking Roles - Current SAG rate. Filming Location An entire town has been built in East Mesa to provide the backdrop for this production. Shooting will be done entirely at this location.
