Roosevelt Lake a Premier Vacation Spot

Although summer doesn't officially start until June 21, those of us who live in Arizona would say it's here! Despite the rising temperatures and annoying wind, this past Memorial weekend drew a larger number of visitors to Roosevelt Lake than in anyone's recollection of past holiday weekends. It appears the secret is out - Roosevelt Lake is becoming the premiere vacation spot for water enthusiasts. Speaking of enthusiasts, Arizona sports were disappointed at the Suns loss to the Dallas Mavericks in Game 6 of the playoffs. However, on a more positive note (always the optimist), the Diamondbacks were in first place in their division as of this writing. They swept the Atlanta Braves in a four game series for the first time in Braves' history and finished 7-3 on the Cincinnati, New York and Atlanta road trip. They trailed in just seven of the 94 innings on the trip. If they keep this up, we could see them in the World Series in October. In other local-related news, get well wishes go out to Joe Stapleton, Chuck Hall, Kim Christiansen, Pat Ferguson's grandson and sister, and Virginia's (of the famous - or should I say notorious - Virginia and Bill) grandson. We also want to wish Lon and Jeannine Thiele a Very Happy 39th Wedding Anniversary on June 10. Lon, Jeannine would like you to know that you are absolutely wonderful and she could not have endured all without you by her side. Thanks to you, she is here today to celebrate and share 39 years with you. As many of you know, this is an election year for a number of public officials. We will bring you the latest updates on the candidates running for office. Please check the website as well for current news. Until next issue . . . take care.
