In a late note, a number of local agencies from the Globe-Miami area will begin outreach activities beginning at 5 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday evenings, July 24 and 25. Community volunteers will be going door-to-door, handing out information to residents of the Tonto Basin and Roosevelt Lake areas. Packets will be handed out with tips on: managing vegetation and debris around the house; building a disaster plan and preparedness kits; and emergency evacuation information. Please exercise caution during this two-day period, as volunteers will be walking door-to-door to deliver these materials. Questions about any of the information should be directed to the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension office at 928-402-8589. In other upcoming news, Tonto National Forest will change their fee collection method. The on-site fee collection machines will become a thing of the past on September 31 of this year and will be "replaced with over-the-counter vendor and mail sales." The new Tonto Pass will be available through "vendors who choose to participate in the Tonto Pass program." Look for the full story in the next issue of Tonto Basin News. Readers who have not yet tuned to KQSS FM (98.3 until Saturday, July 29 when they move to 101.9) may want to listen to Bill Taylor's "hilarious radio." I was impressed with the ad for Hot Topic Printing (check out the ad in this issue). The station's format ranges from country western songs to Bob Seeger to songs I haven't heard since I was a kid forty-some years ago. There are also ads for imaginative products we'd like to see on the market. Turn your radio dial over to KQSS FM and keep a smile on your face throughout the day. Until next issue, keep smilin' and take care
