August is here along with the dog days of summer. I think I can safely say that most of us are ready for the end of these hot, humid days. Those who reside in Arizona as full-time residents live for the winter months and look forward to them each and every summer.
Last week and even into this week, however, we've been given a reprieve from the heat, including lower-than-normal temperatures, and rain, which has slightly increased Roosevelt Lake elevation levels.
On Wednesday, July 26, Roosevelt Lake recorded 1.09 inches of rain. Elevation was 2,113.29 putting the lake at 58% capacity. On July 27, another 0.05 inches was recorded, and on Saturday, July 29, the lake received an additional 0.75 inches. As of Monday morning, Rosy's elevation was 2,113.82 and 59% capacity. According to local and national weather reports, the White Mountains were getting some strong storms and a lot of rain. Keep doing those rain dances. We're looking forward to another good winter with loads of snowpack and a full Roosevelt Lake.
The Rolling Stones are back with a Bigger Bang tour, which kicks off in September at Gillette Stadium in Boston (Foxboro, actually). Arizona fans will be able to catch Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and this timeless band in Phoenix at the new Cardinals stadium in Glendale in November. If you need more information on this upcoming concert, check out the entertainment news update in this issue on page 11.
The elections are just around the corner. If you need to update your address, do so now. We have some very interesting information for readers in the next issue. Stay tuned.
Until then . . . take care.
