Elections Proving to be "Newsy"

Roosevelt Lake is on the rise again. If we receive as much snowpack this winter as we have monsoon rains, we could be looking at another "full" Rosy. Lake elevation has already risen over three feet. Pinto Creek has been running, a good sign that the ground has been saturated with moisture.
Speaking of "newsy stuff," the primaries are just a few short weeks away. Candidates are stepping up their outdoor, TV, radio and print ads. Many voters have asked, "how do we know what to believe and who to vote for in this election?" Incumbents can be judged on past service in office - look at their voting record, bills they've introduced and/or sponsored, where their "special interests" lie, etc.
Speaking of candidates, one of this issue's feature articles disseminates information to readers with regard to the District 1 Congressional House race between incumbent Rick Renzi and challenger Ellen Simon.
Since this seat represents Gila county voters, we were disturbed that several attempts were made to keep the information about Ms Simon's spouse, Blaine Tanner, off our website. Those of you who know me (along with those who wish they had never heard of me or this publication) are fully aware that we refuse to exhibit obsequious behavior simply because someone attempts to place challenging obstacles in our path. The effort led us wonder why and begged the question, "what else is being hidden?"
Sure enough, as we delved into Mr. Tanner's past, we uncovered mounds of questionable actions. We will keep readers apprised of updates as more information comes to light on this subject.
The next issue hits the streets on September 6. Until then . . . take care.
