Good news abounds for this area - Since the last issue, Roosevelt Lake has risen another two feet. August was a wonderful month for those of us living around this area. Despite the humidity, temperatures, stayed in the 90's for at least two weeks during the month. Even better, it's after Labor Day and temperature highs are forecast to be in the 90's this week as well, with chances of precipitation and thunderstorms through Friday. Our winter visitors will soon return and Roosevelt will seem like old home week. Thanksgiving is just a couple of months away. Where did this year go? Speaking of holidays, applications are again available for obtaining a permit to cut a Christmas tree on one of four Arizona national forests. More details can be found in the article on page 5 of this issue. On a sad note, our hearts and condolences go out to Helen Lauth on the loss of Ron on Monday evening. We're going to miss his warm heart and seeing his smiling face around Roosevelt. The primaries are this coming Tuesday, September 12. Regardless of where your party loyalties lie, please get out and vote. It really, truly does make a difference. Some changes have been made and voters need to make sure their identification, including address, matches the voter ID card. If not, please contact the Gila County Elections office. They are located in the Globe courthouse building at 144 E. Ash. Their toll free number for the courthouse is 800-304-4452. Until next issue . . . take care.
