Holidays Ahead

Halloween is one week from this coming Tuesday. All the little ghouls, goblins, witches and other characters of the night will be out trick or treating. The evening is for kids of all ages when you're young at heart (remember the Jimmy Durante song?). Speaking of Halloween, Spring Creek Store is running a coloring contest for ages 3-5 and for the 6-8 group (there's also those adults who want to get in on this fun (you guys know who you are). The contest runs from October 16 through October 30. Stop in the store or call 467-2468 for more information. While we're on the subject of holidays, one of my favorites, Thanksgiving, is just around the corner. I know we have so very much to be thankful for this year and hope all of you do as well. It always seems to put things in perspective when we stop and think about all we do have rather than dwelling on the sad things in our lives. I had the sad opportunity to watch the Arizona Cardinals play the Bears on Monday Night Football. It seems even the new Glendale stadium can't change the "same ole Cardinals." Perhaps Bill Bidwell should consider selling to someone who would make winning a priority over lining his own pocket. On the subject of good news, weather watchers have said that we will experience an El Nino year this winter. If this year follows the pattern of other El Nino years', Roosevelt Lake should again be full by spring. Residents will be dancing in the streets over the boost to our local economy. It was my intention to include more information on Len Munsil, the Arizona candidate for governor, in this issue. However, we are still compiling information, which will appear in the November 1 edition, in time for the upcoming general election. Until then . . take care.
