The general election is this coming Tuesday and I hope that each and every one of you will take time and vote. This election, regardless of who you vote for, will directly impact you. In recent years, votes between many of the candidates have been close, eliminating the "my vote doesn't count" excuse. Speaking of candidates, I recently caught Ellen Simon, Congressional Candidate for District 1 at the end of the 5:00 p.m. Channel 15 news broadcast on Wednesday, October 25. I was immediately struck by how many of her statements completely contradict her own behavior. Ms. Simon, married to the notoriously infamous Blaine Tanner spoke of how she Ëœdevoted her entire professional life . . . fighting against powerful special interests who have broken the law" while Cleveland civil rights attorney Ellen Simon, filed an injunction in an effort to stop Mr. Tanner's ex-wife from discussing the $500,000+ he owed in back child support payments. Simon told viewers she would "fight for a federal government that is more fiscally responsible" adding that "you don't spend what you don't have," while her own husband bilked Ohio banks out of $39.5 million dollars, a case that has carried over into Yavapai County Superior Court here in Arizona. Simon spoke of our federal debt while her own husband was convicted of tax evasion. Simon spoke of being "governed by our own morals, not greed and deception," yet by her own actions, condones the greed and deception of Blaine Tanner, a man she married in 1997. Given her past history, it appears the only person Ellen Simon is interested in serving, is the one that looks back at her in the mirror. Until next issue . . . take care.
