We are still working on the new facelift for this publication. Although readers will see some minor changes in this issue, we're pleased with the transformation thus far. We've had a few minor glitches (Murphy's Law is still alive and well) and hope to have the final product finished in time for the first January issue.
This issue, however, is packed with information for readers. As you peruse through it, you will find that the number of articles has nearly doubled in size and content. We're covering local information for both the Globe and Payson areas. As we continue to grow, statewide coverage, initially as a weekly, is among our long term goals.
Readers and advertisers will also notice that our distribution area has increased in size. A number of grocery stores (Fry's, Safeway and Basha's in Payson and Globe), as well as Walmart in both Payson and Claypool, have been added to the list, along with numerous restaurants. Additional expansion plans are in the works.
On another favorite subject, it's been almost four years since Marty Gage started chasing Ethel Turner's big bass record of 14 pounds. Although he's not quite there yet, he's a lot closer after a recent foray out on Roosevelt Lake. The picture on the front page tells the story. The beaming and proud local fishing guide has a "big fish" tale of his own to tell around the campfire. This will be "the fish that didn't get away." If you're interested in doing some fishing on Roosevelt Lake and feel like you need some tips, give Marty a call and have him guide you toward that next big fish!
The Christmas holiday is just around the corner. The upcoming year is promising to be a good one. Spread some holiday spirit and we'll see you next issue.
