Three Men Indicted for Robbery of Armored Car

PHOENIX, ARIZONA -- The United States Attorneys Office for the District of Arizona announced that on 7/25/06, a federal grand jury at Phoenix, Arizona, returned an indictment against Ismar Kabaklic, age 24; Adnan Alisic, age 26, and Bakir Mujkic, age 57, of Phoenix, Arizona. The indictment alleges that on or about July 21, 2006, defendants robbed an armored car and funds in control of the armored car and its drivers. All three defendants were arrested on July 21, 2006, and are being held pending a detention hearing on July 27, 2006 at 1:30, before United States Magistrate Judge Virginia Mathis. The federal indictment charges defendants with violating Title 18 of the United States Code, Sections 1951 and 2, Interference with Commerce by Threats, Violence and Robbery. A conviction for this crime carries a maximum penalty of 20 years, a $ 250,000 fine or both. An indictment is simply the method by which a person is charged with criminal activity and raises no inference of guilt. An individual is presumed innocent until competent evidence is presented to a jury that establishes guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. The investigation preceding the indictment was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Salt River Police Department, and Scottsdale Police Department. The prosecution is being handled by Sharon Sexton, Assistant United States Attorney, District of Arizona, Phoenix, Arizona.
