Funds Will Help Improve Fire Department's Response Capabilities WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Rick Renzi (AZ-01) has announced that Kearny Volunteer Fire Department will be receiving $166,250 in federal funds to enhance the fire department's ability to respond to fire and fire related hazards. The grant was awarded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security under the Assistance to Firefighters Grants. "I am pleased that the Kearny Volunteer Firefighters will receive this grant to purchase a new water transporting vehicle for the department," said Congressman Renzi. "These volunteer first responders courageously risk their lives to ensure that our families are safe and our property is protected. I look forward to continuing to work with our local officials to ensure that they have the resources they need to protect our communities from fires and other dangerous disasters." The department plans to use this money to purchase a new vehicle that will be used to haul water. This grant is a part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's efforts to strengthen the Nation's overall level of preparedness and ability to respond to fire related hazards.
