House Republicans select leadership team

State Capitol, Phoenix State House Republicans chose Rep. Kirk Adams to lead the chamber when the 49th Legislature convenes in January. The 35-Republicans also selected Rep. John McComish, R-Ahwatukee, as majority leader, and Rep. Andy Tobin, R-Paulden, as majority whip. Adams, of Mesa, takes the reigns of the 60-member House, which added at least two Republican members in this weeks election. It is a great honor to work for the people of Arizona and guide the House of Representatives through a difficult time that will include record budget deficits and tough decisions on our priorities, Adams, a fifth generation Arizonan said. McComish said he will begin devising an agenda for next year that will help Arizona recover from the economic downturn. Arizona has challenges but we will face them and come out stronger, McComish said. We will work to ensure Arizona reclaims its post as a national leader in economic growth. Tobin, who won a second term to the House this week, said Republicans will focus on promoting healthy families and a strong economy. We will continue the effort to keep taxes low while ensuring government spends taxpayer money wisely, Tobin said. Maintaining strong families and a friendly business environment will keep Arizona strong.
