Famous "Big Red One" To Hold 2006 Reunion In Phoenix, Arizona

Blue Bell, PA Veterans of the Army's renowned 1st Infantry Division, the Big Red One, will hold their 88th Annual Reunion in Phoenix, Arizona from July 12 16, 2006 at the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa. The reunion is sponsored by the Big Red One veterans' organization, the Society of the First Infantry Division located in Blue Bell, PA. The 1st Infantry Division is the Army's oldest and most famous division. It fought with great distinction in World War I, World War II, Vietnam, the Gulf War and now, Operation Iraqi Freedom. The bulk of the Division has recently returned from Iraq. One battalion is still there assigned to another division. The Division's 1st Brigade Combat Team from Fort Riley, Kansas is preparing to return to Iraq on its second deployment. Over 1,100 Big Red One veterans and their guests attended the 87th Annual Reunion recently held in the Washington DC area. The Commanding General of the Division and a large contingent of young Big Red One veterans from Iraq added a new dimension to the reunion, demonstrating their respect for the great legacy handed down to them as they write a new chapter in the 1st Infantry Division's outstanding history. Everyone who ever served in the First Infantry Division or any unit attached to it is cordially invited to attend the reunion.
