D-backs deal Hairston to Padres

Club recalls Carlos Quentin from Tucson PHOENIX -- The Arizona Diamondbacks have traded outfielder Scott Hairston to the San Diego Padres in exchange for righthanded pitcher Leo Rosales, as announced by Diamondbacks' Senior Vice President and General Manager Josh Byrnes. Hairston batted .222 with 3 home runs and 16 RBI in 75 games for the Diamondbacks this season. The 26-year old outfielder has hit .238 (131-for-550) with 16 home runs and 47 RBI in 200 Major League games. Rosales was 1-1 with a 3.28 ERA (9 ER in 24.2 IP) in 24 games this season for Portland (AAA). He recorded 14 saves in 15 opportunities prior to going on the disabled list on June 8 with a fractured right hand. The 26-year old signed as the Padres' 20th round selection in the 2003 First Year Player Draft. In five minor league seasons, he has gone 24-16 with a 2.54 ERA (73 ER in 258.1 IP) in 232 games (1 start). He has 70 saves; including a California League best 27 in 2005 and Midwest League best 26 in 2004. Rosales will be assigned to Tucson (AAA). In a corresponding move, the club has recalled outfielder Carlos Quentin from Tucson (AAA). He hit .210 (42-for-200) with 5 home runs and 28 RBI with the Diamondbacks in 64 games this season. Quentin was batting .417 (20-for-48) with 2 home runs and 12 RBI in 15 games with the Sidewinders.
