Fans are invited to blow off work and celebrate Opening Day
After an amazing 2007 campaign that saw the Arizona Diamondbacks win the National League West title, D-backs fever is sweeping the state of Arizona. The excitement is extremely contagious, but fear not, there is a remedy and a prescription is being offered on opening day when fans are invited to be part of the D-backs and FSN Arizona's "Play Hooky Day."
The D-backs will kick off the 2008 season on Monday, March 31, at one of Major League Baseball's traditional opening day venues - Cincinnati. Meanwhile, back home in Arizona, a new tradition of its own is set to be unveiled when the D-backs and FSN Arizona team up for "Play Hooky Day" so fans can skip out on work to enjoy the first game on the season.
The centerpiece event of the day will be the "Play Hooky Day Viewing Party" at the Fox Sports Grill in Scottsdale. Doors open at 10 a.m. when FSN Arizona's Miller Lite Diamondbacks Live pre-game show hits the air live from the grill. A special one-hour show is planned for opening day and it leads up to first pitch from Great American Ballpark at 11:10 a.m.
The D-backs Rally-backs crew and Baxter will be at the party to help give away many great prizes and D-backs game tickets. In addition, everyone who shows up for the party will also receive a FSN Arizona/D-backs t-shirt as well. Immediately after the game telecast, FSN Arizona follows with its Qwest Diamondbacks Live post-game show from the Fox Sports Grill.
The Fox Sports Grill is located at 16203 N. Scottsdale Road (Scottsdale, AZ 85254) and the phone number is (480) 368-0369.
Beginning this season, FSN Arizona becomes the exclusive television home of the Arizona Diamondbacks, televising 150 games a year. Its extensive D-backs coverage also includes three Spring Training games, the Miller Lite Diamondbacks Live pre-game show, Qwest Diamondbacks Live post-game show, The Eric Byrnes Show and D-backs Playin' Hardball. The network televises the most regional sports action in the state and in addition to the D-backs, it is also the exclusive cable television home of the Phoenix Coyotes, Phoenix Suns, Arizona Cardinals, Arizona State University, University of Arizona, Arizona Rattlers and Phoenix Mercury. FSN Arizona is currently seen in 2.8 million households in Arizona & New Mexico and can also be seen across the country via home satellite services.
