PHOENIX -- The Arizona Diamondbacks announced they have reduced or not raised ticket prices on 76 percent of the seats at Chase Field when they unveiled their season ticket and individual game ticket prices for the 2009 season. Of the seats that will incur an increase when purchasing season tickets for the 2009 season, 72 percent will have minimal increases of $1 to $2.50 per game.
Seats located on the field level at Chase Field that did not incur any price increases for fans renewing or purchasing season tickets for the 2009 season include more than 5,100 Infield Box seats that still remain at $35 and a combination of almost 7,000 Bullpen Reserve and Bleacher seats that will still cost $10 per game. Nearly 1,200 seats on the Insight Diamond level and all of the 20,000 upper level seats will not incur a price increase, ranging from $5 to $17, in 2009. Almost 1,600 seats on the field level will be reduced from $21 to $17.50.
Similar to last season, fans purchasing season tickets in 2009 will see a savings of at least 50 percent over fans purchasing single-game tickets to premier games next season.
While we have continued to provide an energetic team on the field that has been exciting to watch while competing for the National League West championship, we strive to make it affordable for families to attend D-backs games at Chase Field, said D-backs President Derrick Hall. We continue to provide one of the best fan experiences in all of sports while maintaining the lowest average ticket price in Major League Baseball for the last two seasons.ÂÂÂ
This marks the third consecutive season the D-backs have reduced or not raised prices on a majority of the seats at Chase Field. Prior to the 2007 season, the club did not raise ticket prices for 86 percent of the ballpark, including decreasing prices on more than half (59%) of the seats. Last season, the D-backs had no price increase on 76 percent of the seats, including decreasing prices on more than a quarter (29%) of the seats. The D-backs have also had the lowest average ticket price in Major League Baseball in 2007 and 2008. The clubs average ticket price of $15.96 in 2008, according to Team Marketing Report, was nearly $10 below the average MLB ticket price of $25.40.
By averaging 30,435 fans through 59 home games this season, the clubs best average in four years, the D-backs are projecting to surpass last seasons attendance mark by more than 100,000. The club drew 2,325,233 fans to Chase Field in 2007, marking the highest total since drawing 2,519,560 fans in 2004. The D-backs also set a franchise record last year by renewing 94 percent of season ticket holders accounts for the 2008 season.
