Valley Youth Theatre-s -Rapunzel- HELD OVER by Popular Demand

(Phoenix, AZ) Valley Youth Theatre has extended its original three-week run of Rapunzel to include Saturday, March 2 and 9 at 3 p.m. and Sunday, March 3 and 10 at 12 and 3 p.m. VYT opened Rapunzel on February 8. The fairy tale adaptation is by Dr. Sidney Berger, former director of the University of Houston School of Theatre and co-founder of the Childrens Theatre Festival (now Theatre for Young Audiences). Part of whats kept Rapunzel hot has to do with the Disney animated film ˜Tangled, admitted Bobb Cooper, producing artistic director at Valley Youth Theatre, but word-of-mouth about the acting, costumes and scenery are solely responsible for this extension. The cast includes five young actors who are new to the Valley Youth Theatre main stage: Wil Arends (Dragon), Rebecca Caswell (Witch) , Jamin Metcalf (Prince), Jenson Metcalf (Husband) and Alena Sanderson (Wife). The sixth cast member, Baily Shultz (Rapunzel), was in Charlottes Web a year ago and VYTs 2010 production of The Hobbit.
